CT Watershed Conservation Network Conference

The CT Watershed Conservation Network Conference was Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Leir Retreat Center in Ridgefield, CT.

In addition to the latest news on environmental legislation, there was a panel discussion on "Flooding: Science and Policy." There was also a presentation devoted to the new CT DEEP (who does what, who reports to whom, and how can we work together more effectively?).

WATER SECRECY UPHELD IN FOI DECISION

In a draft decision issued on March 29, Freedom of Information Commission Hearing Officer Clifton Leonhardt ruled in favor of the contention of water utilities and the state Department of Public Works that the public may be denied access to almost all information relating to water companies’ facilities and operations.  These vital documents concern service areas, system capacities, transfer agreements, ability to release water downstream, and so forth.  On April 27, the decision was upheld by the commission.  Click here for more information.
